I chose this country because I have never been there before. We were doing training in a small town called Sparta. The town itself maybe is small, but still has places to visit or just relax with a cup of coffee. The landscape is also very beautiful. We enjoyed a great view of the mountains right outside our hotel windows.
General Hospital of Sparta is located on the top of the mountain. The ride to the hospital took us 15 minutes by taxi, which was our usual way of transportation. The training at the hospital was 2 months long and for that time I had a chance to work at the pathological ward, surgical ward and emergency department. I had a great opportunity to observe the work of the medical staff there, but most of the days there was not a lot of work to do. I can honestly say that my favorite was the surgical ward. It was really fascinating that we got to see a different operation every day. The staff there is also nice, if we had any questions they would answer them as best as they could, although not everyone spoke English well.
We also had a chance to travel. Every workday we spent at the hospital, but on weekends we visited different places such as Gythio, Kalamata and others. It was a great experience that I will remember for a long time.
Erasmus+ program is a great opportunity to see new places, learn new things and meet new people, so people who are thinking about it, should definitely go for it!
