RSU Red Cross Medical College lecturers Renāte Šukele and Anna Gavrilova participated in a mobility at Kaunas University of Applied Sciences in Lithuania.
After improvement of the epidemiological conditions, College’s lecturers Renāte Šukele and Anna Gavrilova who delivered virtual lectures to KUAS students in February, were able to personally visit the University.

"In May I was able to visit Kaunas University of Applied Sciences together with my colleague as a part of Erasmus+ mobility. It was my first time participating in an exchange trip program focused on cooperation and new knowledge in the field of Pharmaceuticals. I was particularly interested to see the level of pharmaceutical care in Lithuania and the process of the studies. We saw many new study halls and chemistry labs during our visit. I was very delighted to see technological equipment in the pharmacies where students could practically create medicine drugs in sterile conditions. Using machines, they were able to create homogenous ointments, or put prepared powders into capsules. There were also many different herbal infusions for making extracts. All the necessary and modern tools were provided so that pharmacist assistants could study and practice. Participating in Erasmus+ program left only positive emotions and inspired new ideas to even more improve the quality of studies for pharmacist assistants. "It was my first trip as a lecturer, and it was a fantastic chance to broaden my horizons, educate myself and promote cooperation with colleagues. This trip gave me a chance to both improve my pedagogical knowledge and encourage students to learn new topics. KUAS has a wide international network, their study programs are focused on practice and research. The biggest benefit was the exchange of ideas with students and colleagues. I also had a chance to see the new pharmaceutical rooms: chemistry labs, pharmacology and drug preparation laboratories – the modern rooms definitely encourage and promote practice driven studies. During discussions we were able to analyze most frequent problems that come up during the study process; we tried to find new ideas for solving these problems and create innovative study methods. We also talked about challenges created by the pandemic and possible novelties in the profession of a pharmacist assistant. It was very inspiring to learn that KUAS students are actively involved in research process during their studies. The newest research of some KUAS students was presented during RSU RCMC International Days 2022. There are many plans for future cooperation in terms of research and student involvement. To all the lecturers and students planning to participate in Erasmus+ programs, I encourage them to openly communicate with exchange partners, be open to new experience and not to worry about the language barrier, because everything is possible." – Renāte Šukele
