About the Profession
- Qualification level: European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 5
- Perfusionist ensures the cardiopulmonary bypass process during surgical treatment of congenital and acquired heart diseases, enabling surgeons to safely stop the heart for anatomical correction.
- In daily practice, a perfusionist works in the operating theatre as part of a close multidisciplinary team together with a cardiac surgeon and an anesthesiologist, performing highly specialized and essential clinical work.
Organisation of the Study Process
- Studies are conducted full-time.
- Minimum duration of studies: 1.5 years (3 semesters) for applicants with prior education in healthcare or medicine.
Target Group
The study programme is intended for individuals who already hold a professional qualification in medicine or healthcare, such as:
- Physician
- Physician Assistant
- Nurse
as well as other healthcare professionals who wish to requalify and become perfusionists.
Admission Requirements
- Copy of a assport or national ID card
- Notarized English translation (apostille) of the document certifying general secondary education, except in cases where secondary education was obtained in English
- Documents certifying previously obtained professional qualification (diploma and diploma supplement), with notarized English translation (apostille)
- A document issued by an international language testing institution confirming that the applicant’s proficiency in the language of instruction (English) is at least B2 level.
- If prior education was completed in English, proof of language proficiency is not required.
